For those of you looking to hire a person or organization to clean your house/home in Tucson you are presented with numerous options. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of housekeepers/cleaners to choose from; from your neighbor’s best friend to the large franchised corporations. How do you find them among the options available in Tucson? Once you’ve found house cleaners in Tucson; how do you narrow the results to the one?

There are many ways to find house cleaning companies in Tucson, the most popular nowadays are the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Live. I would recommend using the following keywords when performing your searches to give you a sufficient list to work with:

                Tucson house cleaners

These searches should produce a plethora of companies to choose from. Look for the following attributes when choosing your Tucson house cleaner:

Are they licensed? Licensing a home cleaning service builds credibility.

What hours do they clean? You may not care…..but some people want to have their house cleaned in the evening or weekend when their home. Then, as you work with a house cleaner in Tucson for a while you may give them a key to your home.

What products do they use? This is becoming more important these days. I’m biased, of course, to companies that use environmentally friendly products. Not just for the environment for the health issues surrounding today’s household cleaners.

How fast do they respond to your inquiries?

According to a presentation I read on www.njheps.org, the average American office worker is estimated to use a sheet of paper every 12 minutes - a ream per person every 2.5 working weeks. The number of pages consumed in US offices is growing at a rate near 20% each year.

What impact does paper have on the environment?

Forest loss - An estimated 1.2 million acres of forest are cleared every year in the US. Which results in the loss of habitat for a farrago of species, reduced climate regulation, and weakened air and water cleaning potential.

Pollution - Pulp and paper mills in the US produce approximately 245,000 metric tons of toxic air pollutants every year.

Landfill - Paper is the single largest component of municipal solid waste, constituting 38%

Technorati Tags: Green,Printing,Gadgets

of all materials

What can we do to help? The bottom-line is that we need to reduce paper. Paper reduction can be accomplished several ways. One of these ways is the use of GreenPrint software from www.printgreener.com. GreenPrint is a simple idea, it doesn’t print the ubiquitous wasted page. This is the page with just a URL, banner ad, legal disclaimer, et. These wasted pages occur many times a day littering homes and offices. GreenPrint sports the following features:

Highlights and removes unwanted pages

Allows you to decide what prints and what doesn’t

Includes PDF writing capability

Track the number of pages not printed and the $ saved.

For more information related to the environmental impact of paper use and that alternatives check out the cool paper calculator created by Environmental Defense at www.papercalculator.org

Traveling for the Holiday Season? Here are some ‘Green Tips’ to consider:

Turn your ignition off when you will be stopped or parked for more than thirty seconds. Idling for more than thirty seconds burns more gas than it takes to restart the engine or than if the car were moving, and thus produces more toxic emissions.

Use the lowest-octane gas recommended for your car. Only one in ten cars produced since 1982 require high-octane gasoline, and high-octane gasoline releases a higher concentration of toxic compounds into the air than the lowest octane gasoline.

Keep your vehicle tuned up. A well-tuned engine will conserve gas and reduce the toxic emissions produced by your engine.

Here are a few kitchen ‘Green Tips’ for those of you who will be spending an entire week in the kitchen with Thanksgiving right around the corner:

Fill a bowl with cold water and wash fruit and vegetables this way, instead of letting water from a faucet run over them.

Make sure the kitchen faucet is in the “cold” position when turning it on for brief periods. You’ll waste significant energy turning on the hot water even before hot water starts to flow.

Buy organic foods. Organic farms use natural growing practices that promote sustainable agriculture and provide healthy alternatives to conventional crops grown with pesticides and genetically modified organisms. Ask your grocer’s produce manager to stock organic produce.

So yesterday I met with a really nice gal by the name of Patricia Morrison. She is a Shaklee Independent Distributor here in Tucson. I just had to tell you how excited I am to be working with her. I have not had too much experience with Shaklee products, with the exception of the Germ off Wipes (which are wonderful), but after meeting with her I think that I might just start using them exclusively….or at least more! While my Ecover products do a good job, I am really hoping that the Shaklee products will do a great job! It is true that ‘green’ products don’t work as good as traditional cleaning products (Windex, Clorox, etc…..) all the time. This is mostly because they lack the extra strength toxins that will not only kill bacteria but brain cells as well. Shaklee is said to work even better than all of them! This excites me beyond belief…..how lame am I? You know I’m starting to realize that I have no life, specially when the find of new cleaning products are the highlight of my day. I am just really stoked about this opportunity to work side by side with a company that has been around for over 50 years and is still going strong, if not stronger. If you get a chance please read more about the company and the wide range of products that they offer at http://www.shaklee.net/patriciamorrison. Now that I know more about the company and all they have to offer I will not only be ordering cleaning products from them, but I am also looking into the vitamins, skin care products, and water filtration systems. I encourage all of you to do the same and go from good to possibly great!

Cut back on wrapping waste by placing gifts in reusable bags or baskets. If you prefer traditional wrapping paper, try to find a brand with recycled content and then reuse any large pieces to wrap presents again next year. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, Americans produce an extra two billion pounds of garbage per week, much of which is gift packaging. If 40 percent of U.S. households reduced their holiday paper consumption by just two sheets this year, the savings could gift wrap Manhattan island.

*We use recycled brown paper bags and recycled colorful tissue paper. This way both the bag and tissue can be reused for any occasion (birthday’s, baby shower’s, etc..).

Here’s a couple of links for recycled wrapping paper: http://paporganics.com/ & https://www.peacefulvalleygreetings.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=50.

*When packing a child’s lunch consider using forks, knives, spoons, and cups from a second hand store. I’ve learned the hard way, one time too many times, not to pack the good stuff. This way if your child should lose or ruin any of those items, you are not out a good piece of silverware.
